As I begin my training as a Hearing Advocate for those involuntarily hospitalized, I found this post timely. Finding My Sunshine is a mother, wife and PhD student living with Bipolar disorder. In this post, she describes her experience with involuntary hospitalization and multiple ECT sessions administered while prescribed Lithium, resulting in severe memory loss. Through rehabilitation much of her memory is returning, but she does not recall everything about her hospitalization.

Wait until you three little ones are older. It is challenging to balance multiple roles when living with bipolar disorder. Heck, it’s challenging to mother three young childen even without contending with a mental illness! Motherhood is by far the most challenging job I have ever had in my life.

Thanks for drawing our attention to this blog…. Proud of you for training as an advocate. I’d love to do it too…. Just a bit hard to juggle at the moment with work and three little ones. I’ll follow your experience with interest though.
