I really dislike it when people say you are being “selfish” because you have a {insert number here} % chance if bringing a child into the world with {insert issue/disease} here.
If you want to have a child for the right reasons, love is never selfish. As you said, nothing is set in stone with genetics, it is the biggest roll of the dice.
However if we ever get to the point that we can remove all harmful genetic markers (like in the movie Gattica) then I think we risk losing our greatest asset, our humanity in all its infinite variety.
